A very quiet month on the stud giving me a chance to print out new stud cards, write some articles on Criollos and I've also added a page for Chamfron Stud on Facebook Please join us!
Both the stallions have been swabbed for 2010 and we also decided to DNA test Nico for the grey gene. It was no surprise that he returned negative for grey meaning he cannot produce a grey foal unless bred to a grey mare.
The grey gene is not desirable in appaloosas as it tends to produce very spotty foals that then fade to white and loose all their spots.
